Binibining Pilipinas 2005 (Miss Philippines 2005) was the 42nd edition of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) which took place on March 19, 2005 at the Araneta Coliseum, with a delayed broadcast by GMA Network. A total of 23 Candidates competed, though there were 25 that was originally presented. The two ladies that dropped out were Gwennaelle Ruais and Angelique Gustanski. The event was hosted by Richard Gomez for the only time and Paolo Bediones for the eighth time, with Raymond Guttierez as the color commentator. The reigning queens from 2004 did a dance number (a traditional stint) as an interlude, while singers Nyoy Volante and Jerome John Hughes serenaded the ladies during the evening gown competition. At the pageant's climax, Gionna Cabrera was proclaimed as the Bb. Pilipinas-Universe, and crowned by 2004 titleholder Maricar Balagtas. Carlene Aguilar was crowned by Bb. Pilipinas-World 2004 Karla Bautista as the Philippine representative to Miss World, while Precious Lara Quigaman was crowned Bb. Pilipinas-International 2005 by previous year's winner, Margaret "Ma-An" Bayot. In terms of performance (for the first decade of the 21st century) in the international arena, the 2005 winners has been the most successful. Gionna Cabrera, though unplaced in Miss Universe 2005, managed to win two awards, Miss Photogenic (the first of a three-peat for the country) and the Thai Airways Silk Award. Carlene Aguilar managed to be a semi-finalist at Miss World 2005, continuing the country's streak since 2002. Precious Lara Quigaman, however, was the most successful. She managed to beat 51 candidates and capture the title of ''Miss International 2005'', the first time since 1979. With her win she equaled Venezuela with the most wins at that particular pageant, though Venezuela has retained that title again after winning for the 5th time in 2006.
